Yes. Both cafes are reservation-only, so please book online in advance through our official booking system. We can’t accept walk-ins.

Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.

Sorry, we can’t. We get too many reservations for our staff to monitor bookings in real time. Please check our booking system regularly for open slots.

You can cancel or change your reservation on the TableCheck reservation page, free of charge until 24 hours before your reserved time. Within 24 hours, the reservation can no longer be changed, and cancellations are charged in full (100%).

You can change the number of people on TableCheck free of charge until 24 hours before your reservation time. Within 24 hours the number can no longer be changed, and if fewer people show up on the day, the full charge for the reserved number of guests still applies.

You can still join your session, but it will be shorter: the session ends at the scheduled time no matter when you arrive, and the full fee still applies. Please do your best to arrive on time.

The 200 yen charge is a temporary charge to verify your credit card. It is refunded once verification is complete.

Payment is automatic: the credit card you register when booking is charged at check-in, so there is nothing to pay and nothing to sign at the cafe.

Yes. You can pet and interact with the capybaras up close during your session. They are gentle and used to people.

Yes. Capybara snacks are included, so you can feed them during your session at no extra charge.

Each cafe is home to three capybaras. Capybaras are social animals that live in groups in the wild, so we never keep one on its own. Depending on how each capybara is feeling on the day, one may sit out a session; their condition comes before the schedule.

A session is 40 minutes and costs 4,000 yen per person (tax included). The fee is the same for all ages and includes capybara snacks.

Yes. You are welcome to take photos and videos, and our staff will also take a group photo for you.

Yes, solo guests are very welcome. Sessions are small and our staff are in the room with you the whole time, so it doesn’t feel awkward. If you are on your own, just tell us and our staff will take plenty of photos of you with the capybaras.

Yes. All sessions are conducted entirely in English, so international guests can enjoy the experience with no language barrier.

Please arrive about 5 minutes before your session, and not much earlier: our cafes (Shinjuku in particular) have no waiting space in or around the building. If you arrive late, your session becomes shorter and the full fee still applies.

There is a spot to set down your bags inside, but it doesn’t lock, so please keep your valuables with you.

You don’t need to bring anything; capybara snacks, drinks, and a small souvenir are all included. Wear whatever is comfortable, with two things in mind. Capybaras love to nibble, so loose, flowing clothes (long skirts, scarves, dangling straps) tend to get chewed, and clothes that cover your arms and legs give you a little protection if one decides to nibble you.

We don’t serve food, so there is nothing to worry about on that front. The only thing on offer is the self-service drink corner; if you have an allergy, please check the drinks yourself.

Only guests age 5 and older may enter, and children aged 5 to 12 must be accompanied by a guardian. Please note that accompanying adults pay the fee as well.

Yes, the fee is the same for all ages.

We have two cafes in Tokyo: CAPPINESS Shinjuku in Takadanobaba, and CAPPINESS Oshiage, a 6-minute walk from Oshiage Station, right next to Tokyo Skytree and near Asakusa.

Yes. CAPPINESS Oshiage is a 3-minute walk from Tokyo Skytree Station and just one stop from Asakusa on the Tobu Skytree Line, so a 40-minute capybara session fits easily between Senso-ji Temple and Tokyo Skytree. Reservations are required, so book your time slot first and plan the rest of your day around it.

CAPPINESS Shinjuku, in Takadanobaba. Takadanobaba Station is about 5 minutes from Shinjuku or Ikebukuro on the JR Yamanote Line, and the cafe is about a 12-minute walk from the station, or a 5–10 minute taxi ride from Shinjuku.

Yes. Sessions are held indoors, so rain doesn’t get in the way of the 40 minutes with the capybaras. The Oshiage cafe is a 3-minute walk from Tokyo Skytree Station, with the Skytree’s Solamachi mall nearby for the rest of a wet afternoon. The Shinjuku cafe is about a 10-minute walk from Ochiai Station, so bring an umbrella; only its balcony stays closed in wet weather. Reservations are required, so book your time slot first.

There are several paid parking lots nearby, but spaces are not guaranteed. We recommend coming by train, taxi, or bus.

We keep lost items for one week only. Please pick them up at the cafe during opening hours; we can’t ship or deliver them.
